A Deliciously Dramatic Feast of Mystery and Heart!
If Pasinabad had a fragrance, it would be ghee, nostalgia, and simmering rivalry, and Peace Pulao serves it all on a silver platter.
Vibha Batra once again proves why her storytelling is unforgettable. This isn’t just a tale of two feuding restaurants, Shaan-e-Daawat and Awadh Mahal; it’s a story layered with legacy, pride, family history, and the courage to rise above old grudges.

Suraiya and Divumber are absolute firecrackers. Their banter is sharp, their rivalry crackles like hot oil in a kadai, and watching them reluctantly join forces is pure entertainment. The mystery unfolds at just the right pace; every twist feels earned, every revelation satisfying. The sabotage, the missing plaques, Nimona Laajawaab, Inspector Chulbul; everything blends together like the perfect pulao: each ingredient distinct yet harmonious.
What I love most about Vibha’s writing is how alive it feels. You don’t just read the story; you hear the ladles clanging, smell the spices blooming, and feel the tension simmering between generations. The humour sparkles, the emotions hit deep, and the ending? Absolutely heart-warming.
This book isn’t only about food. It’s about healing, about family, about rewriting inherited bitterness into something beautiful. It’s dramatic, funny, tender, and fast-paced; a complete roller-coaster ride from start to finish.
I’ve always loved Vibha’s writing, and this is no exception. Another adventure that kept me hooked and left me smiling long after the last page.
Verdict: 5 / 5
A full five stars; and honestly, if I could give it more, I would.
